I have a camera using the same driver (though on another machine
unfortunately, so I can't get to it at the moment). As far as I
remember I didn't have much trouble getting it working in Edgy
(although not perfectly, it must be said), and it continues to work in
Feisty. I can't remember whether it uses /dev/video0 or something
else, but I certainly didn't have to use mknod or symlink the device
nodes or anything like that.
When you say that everything loads up fine, do you specifically mean
that, when you run "lsmod|grep gspca", gspca shows up? If not, run
"sudo modprobe gspca" and then, as root (using "sudo -s"), enter "echo
gspca > /etc/modules".
Sometimes almost identical models of devices have different chipsets.
I would check for this by checking the vendor id and the product id
(/sys/bus/usb/whatever/subsystem_vendor and
/sys/bus/usb/whatever/subsystem_device) against the list at
http://mxhaard.free.fr/spca5xx.html. Running lsusb will help you
locate these files.
