update:Gutsy won't recognize dvdr (long)

Just wanted to drop a note about this problem I had. On Sunday, I sat
down and booted up my computer and it found all of my dvd players. By
Sunday evening I lost all of my usb devices, and the internal dvd drive.
I have been down since then. I re-installed Gutsy three times and had
the same problem, it wouldn't recognize anything but the keyboard and
the monitor. I attempted to re-install XP with wiped drives and it still
would not 'see' any of my hardware. While I had windows up I went to my
other computer and downloaded the bios from hp onto my thumb drive
plugged the thumb drive into this computer and it recognized the thumb
drive. I think the good lord knew I was at wits end. I flashed the bios,
shut down the computer and rebooted with Gutsy in the internal drive and
it came right up. It is now configured and working excellent.

I also wanted to thank all of you who attempted to help me during those
bad days I had. I lost all of the replies I had to the problem when I
wiped my drives so I can't thank you individually but I wanted you to
know that I tried each and every solution from all of you.
