mail notification for t-bird? (for dapper)

It really depends on how you get your mail. If t-bird is your pop-fetcher, 
you'll need a biff-like program with pop capabilities. I suspect there should 
be several in the repositories, even one specifically for gmail.

If you get your mail in some other way, and T-bird accesses it locally, any 
xbiff-like biff would do. 

Without specific information on your mail setup is hard to advise.
