How to downgrade nvidia-glx

Thank you for your suggestion. In the end I choose another way. I still
have a desktop with 7.04 installed. I downloaded the nvidia-glx driver
on that desktop without installing it, copied it to the laptop and
installed it there. I have a high-resolution screen on the laptop now
and all seems to work fine.
