telling apt to ignore some package dependencies

    I needed OpenOffice 2.3 in Kubuntu 7.04 Feisty and wanted the KDE 
integration.  The install from the packages from openoffice.org kept 
freezing and the KDE integration did not work at all.  So, I downloaded 
the debs from the Ubuntu archive for 7.10 Gutsy and forecefully 
installed them.  They seem to work great.  However, when I try to 
install anything else apt-get complains about all the broken 
dependencies with openoffice packages and won't install anything else.  
I thought apt_preferences might be able to handle this.  Is there any 
way I can tell it just to ingore all the openoffice dependency issues?
