Hi Caleb Marcus,
I have been using a Brother HL-2040 with Ubuntu for a while now with no
problems. The toner cartridge is under $100au and the printer cost $89au
from Tandy Australia.
I suggest you check out the Brother web site for more information on the
HL-2040.
