Damian, I notice in your xsesson-errors:

Initializing gnome-mount extension
Unable to open desktop file
/usr/share/applications/mozilla-thunderbird.desktop for panel launcher:
No such file or directory

Could it be that this started after you installed or deleted thunderbird?
