Ah... good point! Liam, on the one where you have no wireless you can
turn off the glued NM by: System|Preferences|Sessions|Startup Programs -
and untick Network Manager. Then log out & log back in and it will be
gone. You can then add the gnome applet instead. It will actually flash
when you have traffice & if you right click & select Properties you can
see your IP, configure you interface etc.
