Kubuntu networking problem - help!

I've got kubuntu running feisty running on my Dell 810 Laptop...
I've also got vmware workstation installed on this box (but haven't got the
license key yet, so there's nothing running on it)...

For some reason, I can't get any networking to run...
When I run /etc/init.d/networking start, this is what I get ...
* Configuring network interfaces...
There is already a pid file /var/run/dhclient.eth0.pid with pid 134993416
Internet Systems Consortium DHCP Client V3.0.4

No working leases in persistent database - sleeping

If I plug in a windows box, the connection comes up immediately.

Anyone have any clues as to why this is happening? (I had Edgy running on
this same box, and it seemed to be fine). I recently wiped the box and did
a fresh Feisty install, which seemed to be okay when I installed it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated...
