X Error: BadDevice

[NoOp]

I am in the process of updating my last production Dapper system to Edgy
then Feisty. However when I run gedit or apt-get update I am getting the
following errors:

X Error: BadDevice, invalid or uninitialized input device 166
  Major opcode:  145
  Minor opcode:  3
  Resource id:  0x0
Failed to open device

Any clue as to where to start looking for this? I'd like to make sure
that the system is clean before I
gksu "update-manager -c"
