apt-get, specify installation dir

Hi,
I'm going to install phpmyadmin for a user on one of the webservers, but 
   it installs to a default dir, namely /var/www. I want it to install 
into /data/www/phpmyadmin. I've searched high and low, but I haven't 
found anything substancial. I can add a -o to apt-get to add 
configuration options, but I haven't seen any options which state that I 
can choose an installation directory, just cache and other stuff.

Is it possible to install to another directory than the default chosen 
by the package developer?
