Strange Mount After Clean Install of Feisty

I hope someone will correct me if this is wrong, but here is my guess.

The name on the desktop is the volume label.  The icon was put there by 
gnome_volume_manager.  gvm uses the volume label to determine the name 
to give to the icon.  There is a way to turn this feature off if you wish.

The mount point is being correctly gotten from the fstab entry.  If you 
wish to use the UUID, there was another reply about how to find it.
