Hi Carlos,
If you go into KDE's control centre Regional & Accessibility -> Keyboard
Layout and check "Enable keyboard layouts" you can install a full-blown
Spanish keyboard. A little flag icon will then appear in your system tray
and you can easily switch from one keyboard to another. This is the method
that I use at it works perfectly on openoffice. This has the advantage of
putting the characters in their usual place with respect to the national
keyboard. The ñ character is found just to the right of "L" on the Spanish
keyboard.
