Depends...are you %100 certain your home computer isn't compromised?

Personally (as I outlined in my previous message) it's quite a hassle to 
set up and maintain a VPN connection to your home system if it is just 
to web browse your financial institution.  It adds a layer of complexity 
that to some people may be acceptable and to others is a PITA.

And again...how do you know your home connection and home system are "safe"?

Stick to keeping your personal laptop malware-free and use HTTPS and be 
vigilant with your records and cert settings you should be fine for all 
intents and purposes.
