wifi USB x PCMCIA adapter

Hello,

does anyone here have opinion on whether it should be better to invest in a 
USB or  PCMCIA wifi adapter for a laptop lacking it? I also would appreciate 
brand/model suggestions that Just Work®.

The PCMCIA appears to be more (physically) stable, since it remains inside the 
case, while the USB may not be good fora moving situation. However the USB 
could also be used on a desktop, which is nice.

So, your opinions?
