how stable is the ntfs read write support?

I'm using NTFS-3g from the repositories and for me, it's working great 
for writing on a Windows XP NTFS partition.  I don't use it a lot, and 
not for a long time yet, but as far as I can tell, it's working fine now...

Only thing, you have to manually install NTFS-3g and activate it for 
your partitions.
