Following the instructions at http://www.exaile.org/?page=downloads and 
adding the Daily Build repository and installing Exaile gave me the 
latest version that works perfectly with the shortcut keys on my 
Microsoft Natural Pro keyboard.
Hopefully this will be of use to someone else...
