Sorry for taking so long to answer, but after I installed Nvidia
1.0-9755 driver my system wouldn't boot anymore (the driver worked until
the first reboot). I got an error message about some incompatible kernel
modules. Trying to boot with the previous kernel version didn't help.

Your suggestion of deleting /etc/rc3.d/S??gdm worked though, thanks. I
managed to boot to the recovery mode without x being started :-)

Now I have installed Feisty some tweleve times during the last few days
and filed a bug report about my problems. For now I'm just going to sit
with watery eyes in front of my 61 Hz monitor and wait for if someone
needs any additional input from me to fix the bug (or the lack of
support).

Thanks for your help

Ari
