Sorry.
There is something messed up with my smtp. It says that the message I'm 
sending has failed, so I keep trying until I don't get an error. It 
seems that some of my messages have been delivered regardless.

Rsync is installed by default in ubuntu. Otherwise you can use
sudo cp -av /home /another/device

don't try to tell me you don't have 'cp' installed!
