Dell Inspiron 6000 with Logitech V270 Bluetooth Mouse

I have a problem with the combination of Dell Inspiron 6000 and Logitech 
V270. The mouse frequently goes inactive for several seconds at a time. 
When active it works great, but every minute or two I find myself 
twirling small circles waiting for the pointer to respond.

How can I fix this, or figure out more about what is going on?

* Wireless 350 Bluetooth (from Device Manager)
* Ubuntu 6.10 Edgy
* Pairing them "just worked"
