Thunderbird IMAP setup help requested

Crap! Yes I did but I put mail. at the beginning. Stupid me.
Ok. Now it asks for athentication of password but says it cant authenticate.
Odd.
You dont authenticate against your own local imap server?
I really need to write this down.
Where would I have stored those details?
