Changing the resolution of a virtual terminal

Probably your video card has limited VESA conformance. If you have an ATI card, change it from 0x317 to 0x120, 0x121, or 0x122 and retry. Otherwise, change it from 0x317 to ask and on each boot you
will be presented with a menu to pick a mode from. Make sure to choose scan when presented. When you find a mode that you like better than the default you complained about, substitute it for ask.
