Ubuntu on Thinkpad

For us to help, you should post the model of Thinkpad you're using and (if
you know it) what kind of video chipset it uses.  Also, what version of
Ubuntu are you using?

My wife's Thinkpad X31 (Radeon M6 LY video, open-source radeon driver)
projects fine using Ubuntu Dapper, for example.
