(Sorry if this is a dupe... I somehow got unsubscribed from the list
so I don't think my post made it to the list... my apologies if it did
and this is a dupe.)
Installed 7.04 of Ubuntu and love it.
However over the last couple days or so, I've been having and
interesting problem. Every so often a program will have issues
writing to my home directory. Never had this trouble up till now and
I've not messed with permissions on the home dir itself or the
sub-dirs under it.
Example, I was using gFTP to download some pictures from a friends FTP
server. It created the sub-dirs fine, but couldn't write any of the
pictures to the directory. Another example I just ran into is I was
attempting to install a new extension in Firefox and it couldn't.
Said it needed write permissions to chrome directory. I checked all my
permissions and they are owned by my user id/group id. And rebooting
didn't help.
I'm at a complete loss as to why this happens and why it happens intermittently.
Does anyone have any suggestions or anyone else seeing this issue?
It just started a few days ago. During that time, I've done the
updates that the update mngr was telling me about but can't remember
what all was updated.
Thanks
