Unable to write to home dir at times.

Had the same problem when I first started with feisty.what happens as 
soon as you set permisions they got back to the original permisions as 
soon as you close file.try logging in as root via gnome window then try 
seting permisions again logout the sign in as regular user hope I have 
helped.
