Well... if you have an SiS chipset be prepared to go through some
gymnastics to get xubuntu running. I installed on an old HP Pavilion
4440 (3.8Gb drive/256Mb memory), and found myself without a working mouse:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-source-2.6.20/+bug/108221
I had to manually update the linux headers to get it to work.

Next came the all too common vido resolution problems. Couldn't get it
out of 800x600 and seems that no matter what I did in xorg.conf seemed
to work. To make matters worse, running terminal from
Applications|Accessories crashed the system every time. I finally found:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xfce4-terminal/+bug/91849
and setting the depth to 16 vs the standard 24 worked.

I'm still playing with it, but so far I'm not entirely impressed;
particularly since the above problems have been known for awhile and
weren't fixed in the latest iso.

One other thing; fresh install leaves me with 822Mb free disk space
(802Mb after I added OpenOffice Calc).
