Sending signals to running firefox

Firefox will send itself a signal from the executable,, check it out.. 
Open firefox, then from a terminal window, type firefox http://some-site

On my system,, the existing firefox session on my current X Session will 
open a tab to the new site, (I think you can configure the tab behaviour 
in Options.)
