Sending signals to running firefox

Hi,

is it possible to send signals to a running firefox instance from
another process (e.g. from a bash or perl script) or do I have to write
my own XPCOM-Component?
All I want to do is to tell firefox to show a different website let's
say every minute or so. As you can imagine I need this functionality for
a kiosk pc.
