lexmark z53 prints colors light

I just installed feisty fawn w/a dual boot of winxp.  Its running pretty nice with what i've set up so far.
I am having just one problem at this point.
My lexmark z53 printer.

Ubutntu has a gutenprint driver for the z53.
I've set it up.  If I try to print a photo the colors come out very light.

I tried this in both eye of gnome and gimp.

The photo prints nice in windows xp so I don't think it is an issue with the printer or the ink.
