ubuntu server - hibernate?

Hi

I found with my newer laptop that the hibernate and suspend modes don't work 
as they do on this one. I've heard there is a patch re this sorta thing but I 
don't recall where it is for know. Will have to hunt up the mags re some 
linux performance tweaks as I know there is mention in there about it
