Nonexistant xorg.conf but still able to run x

This is really weird, but it is prolly a simple over sight on my part. I
don't have a /etc/X11/xorg.conf file but I am able to start up kdm and X
just fine. What gives?

Relevent info: Running Kubuntu Fiesty, with an ati 7200 mobility card and I
use KDM to log in. (startx also works)
