Gaim setup issues

heres what i usually do when i setup gaim (and hopefully this is the 
answer you are looking for):
1) Download Gaim from the ubuntu repos (the simplest way is to use 
either Synaptic (Regular ubuntu), or Adept (Kubuntu), but you can use 
apt-get if you wish).
2) fire up gaim
3) when hte accounts window that said "Welcome to gaim" popped up, click add
4) then you select the appropriate protocol from the protocol listing, 
then filled in all my account information
5) then you click the save button and log in
