I've had Dell systems for years, both at work and at home.  I've never
had a problem with extended service at all.  I recently had a DVD writer
replaced, next day, 7 days from the end of the contract.  It was running
Linux, and not on one of the 'supported' systems.

What was the rationale they used for refusing?
