support for intel 965 express chipset?

Try installing the "xserver-xorg-video-intel" package and changing your
video driver in xorg.conf from "i810" or "vesa" (whatever it is set to) to
"intel". That is a newer driver for Intel video chipsets which is supposed
to do a better job of detecting the right resolution. I don't know if it
works for the 965 - I've got an older Intel chipset in my laptop - but it
supports many Intel chipsets and generally does a much better job of picking
the right resolution than the old drivers.
Save your old xorg.conf (make a copy) just in case you have to revert,
though...
As for your wi-fi, that's probably solvable as well - either by way of an
updated out-of-kernel driver (the SVN version of madwifi, for instance, if
you have an Atheros chip) or NDISwrapper, which runs the Windows drivers on
Linux. Just post the card output from dmesg and someone here can probably
help...
