Sansa MP3 player does not mount

yep I did that first thing.  I don't think ubuntu's usb core even
detected the player at all with the default MTP setting.

I was thinking of moving to the rockbox firmware, but decided for the
good of testing ubuntu as a "non-power-user" I would try to make the
default Sansa firmware work for me.

So, did your Sansa e260 work before you switched to the rockbox firmware??
