Slow update servers

Today I find 25 updates for OpenOffice (Fiesty); 92.1Mb worth. Click to
update and the servers (us.archive.ubuntu.com - 91.189.89.6) are poking
along at variable rates from 14.4 kB/s to 77.8 kB/s. Anyone know if
Canonical/Ubuntu are ever going to fix the bandwidth and connection
issues with these servers?

Note: my DSL is 1.5M down and working just fine... it's the Ubuntu
servers that are slow.
