Realtime sound on feisty

Hello,

Is there any way to get realtime sound recording/playback (i.e. using 
the kernel's CONFIG-PREEMPT option) under a standard feisty kernel? If 
not, I can compile my own kernel with it in, but I would much rather 
stick with the standard kernel if possible, just to make updates etc. 
easier. I am using a laptop with onboard sound card (an intel ac'97 
controller). I have looked on the wiki, but it doesn't seem to cover feisty.
