Dave -

Perhaps I should give you my info to try - it's worth a shot.

JPilot = 0.99.9 (we match)
pilot-link = 0.12.1
JPilot/Preferences/Setings
Serial Port... = nothing entered in this space - leave it blank
   Serial Rate... = 115200

The Serial Rate is interesting. Even though it clearly states
that USB is not effected by this setting, I read on one list that
it is and should be set to 115200. I have not experimented
to validate that claim.

IMPORTANT -
Press the sync button on your Palm FIRST
Wait 3 seconds and then select sync in JPilot
Ignore the JPilot message to press sync on your Palm
Wait - it can take up to 15 sec before the sync starts
The event order and 3 sec wait are extremely important

If it doesn't work, close JPilot, stop the sync on your Palm
and try again. I suspect it is a timing issue.

We can move on and look at other things if this fails - like
lsmod, and ls -l ttyU* (/dev). But let's try the procedure first.
I know several folks that are doing it as I have outlined.

My comment about upgrade was a concern that something
is left-over from Dapper that is causing a problem. Not
saying that is the case - just curious.

good luck
