Hi John, very excited at prospect of having a working printer.

I downloaded pipslite for cups, used alien to make deb, installed .deb.
Renamed /dev/usb/lp0 as you did (my printer turns up in /dev/ like yours
does).

But I'm having probs running the install script (also, I had to install
gtk1.2). I get a dialog box up which says "Checking..." then after asecond
or so, it says "PPD file need to be created for the printer to be registered
to CUPS. Please make sure the printer is connected to your computer and have
it turned on!". Printer is connected and turned on (it appears in /dev). But
I only have the Cancel option -- the Continue option is greyed out.

Any ideas?

thanks,

rich
