installed Ubuntu Dapper 6.06 PPC on iMac Red

Hi
I have installed Ubuntu Dapper 6.06 PPC on iMac Red
How can I detect the modem, I am trying to set it up to send and receive fax
I have looked in System/Administration/Device Manager did not see the modem
I did look in System/Administration/Networking/modem I tried that and it 
still did not detect the modem
What do I need to do so it can detect the modem
