Bad charset mounting ext3 in Ubuntu 6.06 - Help

I am new in Ubuntu (6.06 version) with two years
experience in mandrake 10.0

The system mounted an ext3 partition but character
encoding from it is bad (filenames and file contains)
Special spanish characters (tilde, etc) are printed as
<?>, this happens in nautilus, in the shell and many
other software like openoffice.

One tip. I copied some files from windows fat32
partition to the etx3 partition that I wanted to
mount.

I had prove with several options for "mount" in fstab
but anything works.

I had searching the web but nothing is clear for my
problems.
