Linux kernel 2.4 on Ubuntu 7.10 howto?

Indeed. Sometimes the question asked belies a deeper problem that can be
solved another (better) way.
For example, I might ask, "how can I run Microsoft Word in Ubuntu?"
Well, if you just told me about Crossover office or something similar, I
might go through the hassle of installing all of that. But if you asked
me for more details you might find out that I don't OpenOffice (for some
reason) and you might suggest AbiWord to me. I could try that out and
perhaps it satisfies me.
So I agree, it's always valid to try and uncover the root problem,
rather than simply address the question as it was asked. The person
asking the question may be making some invalid assumptions (or not, but
you won't know until you ask).
