adept-updater: no progess when doing dist-upgrade

I made a fresh installation of Kubuntu 7.10 via CD. All went fine.
When I logged in for the first time I updated some packages via adept.
After the updates a button appeared to do a dist-upgrade.

After that a new window appeared indicating that 66 packages had to be 
upgraded
and that one package (libportaudio0) would be obsoleted. In the last step
progress indicator was blocked at 0% and details showed an empty window. 
Nothing
was hapening.

I stopped the dist upgrade tool and started by hand apt-get dist-upgrade 
which
succeeded without problems.
