w32codecs just simply won't work with 64-bit mplayer.  You had to 
build/install a 32-bit mplayer to use them.  of course, this is all moot 
now that there are 64-bit codecs.  In any case, mplayer (and vlc) can 
now play just about anything natively and no longer rely on binary codecs.
