about gvim package installation

You need to externally install full vim package.
You can do :
$ sudo apt-get install vim-full
or just the vim-common im-gnome package.

Another option is to do it fro synaptic Package Manager. Just make sure you
go to Repositeries and disable the CD repo otherwise, Ubuntu just keeps
looking for the packages in the CD .
