This seems to depend on how many add-ons  you have , and what type.
Also, obviously, if you use the feature that allows re-opening tabs and
windows on relaunch, that slows things down.

On this aging machine ( 2 GHz Celeron, 512 MB RAM) , a totally "vanilla"
Firefox profile takes about 4-5 seconds to start.

This seems to be a bit faster than it was with previous Ubuntu firefox
versions. Epiphany takes about the same time here.

14 seconds in Ubuntu 7.04 ( same machine as above). Second launch takes
about 5-6 seconds.
