Indic Rendering Problems and OOo 2.2.1

Hello Friends

Some of my friends and I all were facing some problems with Indic
rendering and OOo in Ubuntu 7.04. Many kinds of problem, starting from
'smartquote' to even font-rendering. We experienced it with both Bangla
and Hindi. But, it is quite possible that other Indic systems were
getting problems too. 

This whole problem was solved by a change-over to OOo 2.2.1. Downloaded
the tar.gz with JRE, untarred it, and ran 'alien -i --scripts *.rpm',
and after it, installed the desktop-integration deb. Everything is now
working OK. Did it on three different machines, two laptops, and one
desktop.
