Problems with cryptsetup and udev on feisty

Hello,
A couple of months ago, I installed the (at that time) brand-new feisty
and encryped several filesystems with luks,cipher=aes-cbc-essiv:sha256
All that worked for months like expected.
Until last week, when I made "apt-get update; apt-get upgrade". Now I
can't "cryptsetup luksOpen" any more: after I enter the passphrase,
cryptsetup simply hangs for several minutes. Finally I get an error
report:
# cryptsetup luksOpen /dev/sda11 crypted
key slot 0 unlocked.
Rendezvous with udev timed out for 'crypted'; stat failed: No such file or directory
Command successful.
#
Although it claims that the command was succesful, the filesystem don't
appear in /dev/mapper.
Googling for "rendezvous with udev timed" reveals that there are more
people with the same problem. AFAICS all of them use feisty/gutsy (or
something derived from that). But unfortunately, nobody found a solution
by now.
Google also found two ubuntu bugzilla entries:
this one is marked as a duplicate of #117502
- https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cryptsetup/+bug/117502
this one discusses a completely different topic (failure to type
"YES" in uppercase when "cryptsetup luksFormat")
So #117493 is marked as duplicate by mistake! Those are completely
unrelated problems.
Any ideas what caused this problem and how to solve it?
