Intermittent 100% cpu utilization

Good afternoon,

I have Ubuntu v7.04 installed on a Dell Inspiron 1000 (2.2Ghz 512M).

Over all it runs just great but I am running into an intermittent issue with
CPU utilization.

Firefox and Gnome GDesklets run off and consume 100% CPU.

Has anyone run into this before?

Any help you can provide on this would be greatly appreciated.
