thanks guys I was wondering about this myself, I posted this issue the
other nite as I was looking for a wireless signal strength monitor which
did not exsist if I used manual config, Feisty on a Thinkpad T60 with
the same wireless nic Intel 3945 & I had not noticed with the roaming
mode enabled in manual config that nm had any wireless config, go
figure? Anyway again with roaming mode enabled I also only have WEP
configs no WAP at all, which for me is not an issue as my router is
config for WEP so I chose WEP 64/128 Hex when config the nm, & then had
to reboot to get it to function. One thing with nm configs it's either
or wired or wireless, when I used manual config I could run both wired
or wireless at same time. But I now have the wireless signal strength
monitor up in the nm which for me was the object of my post in the first
place.
